THE GARDEN OF PRAYER

Devotional for Friday July 1, 2022

Except in the tender arms of my Lord I will be, until the day of perennial health arrives and in his loving arms I will always rest. How pleasant then it will be to dwell with Him, and in the mansion of glory to always be with Him!

Saint Luke clearly writes that when our Lord was in agony, he prayed more intensely and said: “My Father, if it is not possible for this cup to be taken away unless I drink it, may your will be done.” Matthew 26:42, and an angel from heaven appeared to him comforting him. And it was his sweat like great drops of blood that fell to the ground.

“In the garden intercede and pray to the blessed and divine Lord, Blessings from heaven receive in the garden of sweet prayer. I am going there to pray and I will find the Master in the blessed orchard to pray”.

Jesus Christ, my glorious and eternal Savior, writing the beautiful story of the martyrdom you had to suffer on painful Calvary, many times I have had to hold back my tears at the thought that it was for me too, so with your powerful help and grace merciful, trying hard I hope I can show you my gratitude for your wonderful love by serving you until the end.

Morning Luke 22:42

Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.

Noon Psalm 85

1 Lord, thou hast been favourable unto thy land: thou hast brought back the captivity of Jacob.

2 Thou hast forgiven the iniquity of thy people, thou hast covered all their sin. Selah.

3 Thou hast taken away all thy wrath: thou hast turned thyself from the fierceness of thine anger.

4 Turn us, O God of our salvation, and cause thine anger toward us to cease.

5 Wilt thou be angry with us for ever? wilt thou draw out thine anger to all generations?

6 Wilt thou not revive us again: that thy people may rejoice in thee?

7 Shew us thy mercy, O LORD, and grant us thy salvation.

8 I will hear what God the LORD will speak: for he will speak peace unto his people, and to his saints: but let them not turn again to folly.

9 Surely his salvation is nigh them that fear him; that glory may dwell in our land.

10 Mercy and truth are met together; righteousness and peace have kissed each other.

11 Truth shall spring out of the earth; and righteousness shall look down from heaven.

12 Yea, the LORD shall give that which is good; and our land shall yield her increase.

13 Righteousness shall go before him; and shall set us in the way of his steps.

Evening Luke 22:44-46

44 And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground.

45 And when he rose up from prayer, and was come to his disciples, he found them sleeping for sorrow,

46 And said unto them, Why sleep ye? rise and pray, lest ye enter into temptation.

This month's challenge is:

Talk to your family and show them your willingness to serve them with whatever they need. Talk to your pastor and tell him that you are willing to serve whatever is needed in your church. Tell your neighbor that they can count on you if they need it, etc. Pray for this daily.
