Morning 1 Timothy 4: 6-11

Meridiana Psalm 97

Evening Isaiah 5: 1-3

There is a story about a man who was sawing a pile of wood with an old saw, his work was really hard and ineffective. A neighbor approached this poor man and said, “Why don't you have your saw sharpened? If so, you could do much more than you do now. " To which the worker replied: “Don't bother me. I have enough to do in sawing this pile of wood, to stop to sharpen the saw ”.

Stopping ministry activities to “sharpen” our prayer life and personal Scripture study is not a waste of time, it is an economy. As Spurgeon points out:

“In order to bring living water to others, we need to go to the source more often. Take care, then of your personal health, and pray that you may be filled with all the fullness of God ”.

Paul's command to Timothy is: exercise yourself for piety, and later on he says to him: This commands and teaches. You are responsible for using the strategies that God gave you; Nobody else can do it.

The more involved a believer is in the Lord's work, the more he needs to take care of himself.

Morning 1 Timothy 4: 6-11

6 If thou put the brethren in remembrance of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, whereunto thou hast attained.

7 But refuse profane and old wives' fables, and exercise thyself rather unto godliness.

8 For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.

9 This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptation.

10 For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe.

11 These things command and teach.

Noon Psalm 97

1 The Lord reigneth; let the earth rejoice; let the multitude of isles be glad thereof.

2 Clouds and darkness are round about him: righteousness and judgment are the habitation of his throne.

3 A fire goeth before him, and burneth up his enemies round about.

4 His lightnings enlightened the world: the earth saw, and trembled.

5 The hills melted like wax at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the Lord of the whole earth.

6 The heavens declare his righteousness, and all the people see his glory.

7 Confounded be all they that serve graven images, that boast themselves of idols: worship him, all ye gods.

8 Zion heard, and was glad; and the daughters of Judah rejoiced because of thy judgments, O Lord.

9 For thou, Lord, art high above all the earth: thou art exalted far above all gods.

10 Ye that love the Lord, hate evil: he preserveth the souls of his saints; he delivereth them out of the hand of the wicked.

11 Light is sown for the righteous, and gladness for the upright in heart.

12 Rejoice in the Lord, ye righteous; and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness.

Evening Isaiah 5: 1-3

1 Now will I sing to my wellbeloved a song of my beloved touching his vineyard. My wellbeloved hath a vineyard in a very fruitful hill:

2 And he fenced it, and gathered out the stones thereof, and planted it with the choicest vine, and built a tower in the midst of it, and also made a winepress therein: and he looked that it should bring forth grapes, and it brought forth wild grapes.

3 And now, O inhabitants of Jerusalem, and men of Judah, judge, I pray you, betwixt me and my vineyard.
