IN GOD WE HAVE REFUGE

Dep. Comunicaciones

Devotional for Wednesday May 18, 2022

In the long journey of life, we find moments of loneliness and sadness and we try to find support in some person to be our refuge in times of affliction; but I am sure that many times it has not had good and effective results, and do you know why? Because the only safe refuge is in the Lord of hosts. Psalm 90:1. At all times, He is there for us.

The writer of that beautiful psalm was convinced that only by seeking the things of the kingdom of God would he find a safe place to rest, because the promises of the Almighty are faithful and true. He said to Moses: “ “My Presence will go with you,” Exodus 33:14 and he went; He told Joshua: “do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”! and he was by his side all the time; He told Gideon, "“Go in this might of yours, and you shall save Israel from the hand of the Midianites…” and he won. You know why? Because Jehovah is our Shepherd and we will lack nothing; and even “When our father and our mother forsake us…”, The Lord will take care of us. Psalms 27:10 He is for us like a mighty giant to defend us, and I am convinced that in God we have a safe refuge until eternity.

Morning Psalm 91:1-2

1 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

2 I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.

Noon Psalm 30

1 I will extol thee, O LORD; for thou hast lifted me up, and hast not made my foes to rejoice over me.

2 O LORD my God, I cried unto thee, and thou hast healed me.

3 O LORD, thou hast brought up my soul from the grave: thou hast kept me alive, that I should not go down to the pit.

4 Sing unto the LORD, O ye saints of his, and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness.

5 For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.

6 And in my prosperity I said, I shall never be moved.

7 LORD, by thy favour thou hast made my mountain to stand strong: thou didst hide thy face, and I was troubled.

8 I cried to thee, O LORD; and unto the LORD I made supplication.

9 What profit is there in my blood, when I go down to the pit? Shall the dust praise thee? shall it declare thy truth?

10 Hear, O LORD, and have mercy upon me: LORD, be thou my helper.

11 Thou hast turned for me my mourning into dancing: thou hast put off my sackcloth, and girded me with gladness;

12 To the end that my glory may sing praise to thee, and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give thanks unto thee for ever.

Evening Psalm 23

1 The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.

2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.

Prayer Guide: [E.U. Diócesis Oeste-Austin] and [Dominicana-Santiago-De-Los Caballeros]

This month's challenge is: Identify each character virtue of Christ and incorporate it into your own character. Spend more time with the people you love. Evaluate daily if your behavior resembles that of Jesus. Constantly ask yourself before making a decision or doing anything, what would Christ have done in my place? Study more deeply the life of Christ and ask God to help you be a better Christian.
