Devotional for December 10, 2021
Morning 2 Timothy 3:1-5
Noon Psalms 125
Evening Acts 2:43-47
Individualism is the tendency to think and act independently of others, or without being subject to general rules. For an individualistic person, it is inconceivable to sacrifice personal fame, power, privilege, and success for the common good of the family, a vulnerable group, or society at large. At the first problem that appears in marriage, the individualistic man resorts to divorce, since his love and commitment is with himself, not with his partner. The young woman who becomes pregnant without expecting to, resorts to abortion so that her life plans are not frustrated. The individualistic father or mother who sees her material or professional progress stopped because of the time she dedicates to her children, chooses to abandon them to continue with her career. The best religion or philosophy of life for the individualist is one that is not contrary to their lifestyle and preferences, so they are not concerned about meeting their spiritual needs through idolatry. Being guided by merely personal interests is contrary to the will of God; He wants his children to seek the common good and harmony.
“…. not seeking my own profit, but the profit of many, that they may be saved.”

Morning 2 Timothy 3:1-5
1 But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come:
2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
3 unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good,
4 traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God,
5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!
Noon Psalms 125
1 They that trust in the LORD shall be as mount Zion, which cannot be removed, but abideth for ever.
2 As the mountains are round about Jerusalem, so the LORD is round about his people from henceforth even for ever.
3 For the rod of the wicked shall not rest upon the lot of the righteous; lest the righteous put forth their hands unto iniquity.
4 Do good, O LORD, unto those that be good, and to them that are upright in their hearts.
5 As for such as turn aside unto their crooked ways, the LORD shall lead them forth with the workers of iniquity: but peace shall be upon Israel.
Evening Acts 2:43-47
43 And fear came upon every soul: and many wonders and signs were done by the apostles.
44 And all that believed were together, and had all things common;
45 And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need.
46 And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart,
47 Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.
