Morning: 1 Thimothy 1:3,4
Noon: Psalm 85
Evening: John 17:17
The preaching of truth is of supreme importance to the life of the church, but only when it is followed by the practical application of that truth. What good is it to know that our God is sovereign, holy and almighty, if it does not affect our worship? What good is it to know the reality of hell if it does not move us to proclaim the Gospel to the lost?
However, we cannot expect all these practical actions to come out of our lives without a doctrinal basis to support them. Before he could say to the Romans, "...I beg you to present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God...", Paul had to write eleven predominantly doctrinal chapters. That is why we must be careful with false doctrines; they hinder the development of Christian virtues. Satan tries to infiltrate them into the church because he knows that they affect the godly life of the brethren. We cannot obtain mercy without the teaching of good doctrine; but we must not teach good doctrine as an end in itself, but as the vehicle for attaining godliness.
Every believer should strive to have his faith based on correct doctrine and live up to the doctrine he believes.

Noon Psalm 85
LORD, thou hast been favourable unto thy land:
Thou hast brought back the captivity of Jacob.
2Thou hast forgiven the iniquity of thy people,
Thou hast covered all their sin. Selah.
3Thou hast taken away all thy wrath:
Thou hast turned thyself from the fierceness of thine anger.
4Turn us, O God of our salvation,
And cause thine anger toward us to cease.
5Wilt thou be angry with us for ever?
Wilt thou draw out thine anger to all generations?
6Wilt thou not revive us again:
That thy people may rejoice in thee?
7Shew us thy mercy, O LORD,
And grant us thy salvation.
8I will hear what God the LORD will speak:
For he will speak peace unto his people, and to his saints: But let them not turn again to folly.
9Surely his salvation is nigh them that fear him;
That glory may dwell in our land.
10Mercy and truth are met together;
Righteousness and peace have kissed each other.
11Truth shall spring out of the earth;
And righteousness shall look down from heaven.
12Yea, the LORD shall give that which is good;
And our land shall yield her increase.
13Righteousness shall go before him;
And shall set us in the way of his steps.
