Devotional for Wednesday June 22, 2022
The neglect for the Word of God on behalf of the believers has been one of the greatest achievements of the prince of this world. The New Testament is full of warnings about false teachers and the need for us to exercise spiritual discernment. In the biblical text chosen for this devotional, we find the Son of man during the temptations that followed his baptism. Urged to commit sin, He resorted to the Scriptures as a tool for his defense. The Word through which God has manifested himself to us constitutes an invaluable gift for man. Why do you neglect your reading? Will the soldier who has forgotten his sword be able to fight? The Son of man needed bread and found an answer in the Word. Knowledge of the Scriptures enabled him to defend his faith against those who questioned his ministry, and this reality should serve us as a light. No matter how negligent we have been, let us turn to the source, let us scrutinize the Scriptures, aware that they testify of Christ. In the face of the temptation of this century, may we raise the sword, and confidently we will have the lunge of victory, because "It is written".

Morning Matthew 4:1-10
1 Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil.
2 And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred.
3 And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.
4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

9 And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.
10 Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.
Noon Psalm 68:1-10
1 Let God arise, let his enemies be scattered: let them also that hate him flee before him.
2 As smoke is driven away, so drive them away: as wax melteth before the fire, so let the wicked perish at the presence of God.
3 But let the righteous be glad; let them rejoice before God: yea, let them exceedingly rejoice.
4 Sing unto God, sing praises to his name: extol him that rideth upon the heavens by his name JAH, and rejoice before him.

Evening John 5:39-47
39 Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.
40 And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life.
41 I receive not honour from men.
42 But I know you, that ye have not the love of God in you.
43 I am come in my Father's name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive.
44 How can ye believe, which receive honour one of another, and seek not the honour that cometh from God only?
45 Do not think that I will accuse you to the Father: there is one that accuseth you, even Moses, in whom ye trust.
46 For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me; for he wrote of me.
47 But if ye believe not his writings, how shall ye believe my words?

Ask yourself at all times: how would I want to be treated if I were in that condition? Always remember Jesus' advice: “Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful. Judge not, and you will not be judged: condemn not, and you will not be condemned: forgive, and you will be forgiven."
