ZEPHANIAH: THE WARRIOR WHO SAVES

Dep. Comunicaciones

Updated: Jun 7, 2022

Devotional for Monday June 6, 2022

Zephaniah, as a good prophet of God, had the responsibility to speak only the truth. He did this in a clear and disdainful manner, announcing judgment and horrible punishment for all who defied God. The day was coming when God would destroy sin, and sinners would have to give an account before the Judge of the universe. However, amid this terrible pronouncement there is hope. All the terror found in chapter one is now replaced by the sweet whisper of a promise: “Seek the Lord, all you humble of the earth, you who have obeyed his judgments, seek his righteousness, seek meekness; perhaps you will be the same mighty warrior who will punish his enemies, who will destroy his adversaries, it will be the same one who will spread his mantle over the humble of the earth, those who find in him the only reason for their salvation. The mighty Warrior will come mounted on a white horse, his face illuminated by the glory that by nature belongs to him, with his sword drawn to destroy all rebels, while his right hand of mercy extended to save all who love him.

Morning Zephaniah 1:15-18

15 That day is a day of wrath, a day of trouble and distress, a day of wasteness and desolation, a day of darkness and gloominess, a day of clouds and thick darkness, 16 A day of the trumpet and alarm against the fenced cities, and against the high towers. 17 And I will bring distress upon men, that they shall walk like blind men, because they have sinned against the LORD: and their blood shall be poured out as dust, and their flesh as the dung. 18 Neither their silver nor their gold shall be able to deliver them in the day of the LORD's wrath; but the whole land shall be devoured by the fire of his jealousy: for he shall make even a speedy riddance of all them that dwell in the land.

Noon Psalm 68:1-10

1 Let God arise, let his enemies be scattered: let them also that hate him flee before him.

2 As smoke is driven away, so drive them away: as wax melteth before the fire, so let the wicked perish at the presence of God.

3 But let the righteous be glad; let them rejoice before God: yea, let them exceedingly rejoice.

4 Sing unto God, sing praises to his name: extol him that rideth upon the heavens by his name JAH, and rejoice before him.

5 A father of the fatherless, and a judge of the widows, is God in his holy habitation.

6 God setteth the solitary in families: he bringeth out those which are bound with chains: but the rebellious dwell in a dry land.

7 O God, when thou wentest forth before thy people, when thou didst march through the wilderness; Selah:

8 The earth shook, the heavens also dropped at the presence of God: even Sinai itself was moved at the presence of God, the God of Israel.

9 Thou, O God, didst send a plentiful rain, whereby thou didst confirm thine inheritance, when it was weary.

10 Thy congregation hath dwelt therein: thou, O God, hast prepared of thy goodness for the poor.

Evening Zephaniah 2:3-5

3 Seek ye the LORD, all ye meek of the earth, which have wrought his judgment; seek righteousness, seek meekness: it may be ye shall be hid in the day of the LORD's anger.

4 For Gaza shall be forsaken, and Ashkelon a desolation: they shall drive out Ashdod at the noon day, and Ekron shall be rooted up.

5 Woe unto the inhabitants of the sea coast, the nation of the Cherethites! the word of the LORD is against you; O Canaan, the land of the Philistines, I will even destroy thee, that there shall be no inhabitant.

Prayer Guide: [México-Casa Blanca] and [México-Lencero]

This month's challenge is: Think before you judge or act.

Ask yourself at all times: how would I want to be treated if I were in that condition? Always remember Jesus' advice: “Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful. Judge not, and you will not be judged: condemn not, and you will not be condemned: forgive, and you will be forgiven."

Luke 6:36,37
