PROMISES?

Devotional for Saturday March 5, 2022

Morning James 4:13-17

Noon Psalm 15

Evening Psalm 50:14

Vows and commitments are elements that are present during the life and ministry of the believer. Young believers make pacts, people commit to courtships and then sign their marriage vows. However, in one way or another we live making, breaking, and failing to fulfill commitments. Frequently, I find myself breaking a promise, and I anguish over it and uncertainty overwhelms me. In general, we do not feel pleasure in failing to comply, but we continue to fail, because we forget to put the will of the Lord first and believe me, I know what I'm talking about. How many times do we commit ourselves pretending to usurp a power or a will that belongs to God, and over time we recognize that, if we can put something before each purpose, it is the will of God. The fair thing, the advisable thing in the Word of God with respect to all aspiration, is to place it in his hands and subject it to his will. If God wants, I will do this or that and because of his grace, my votes will be for him. With his help, I will walk in his decrees, believing by faith that the rain and the fruits will come at his time.

Morning James 4:13-17

13 Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain: 14 Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away. 15 For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that. 16 But now ye rejoice in your boastings: all such rejoicing is evil. 17 Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.

Noon Psalm 15

1 Lord, who shall abide in thy tabernacle? who shall dwell in thy holy hill?

2 He that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart.

3 He that backbiteth not with his tongue, nor doeth evil to his neighbour, nor taketh up a reproach against his neighbour.

4 In whose eyes a vile person is contemned; but he honoureth them that fear the LORD. He that sweareth to his own hurt, and changeth not.

5 He that putteth not out his money to usury, nor taketh reward against the innocent. He that doeth these things shall never be moved.

Evening Psalm 50:14

Offer unto God thanksgiving; and pay thy vows unto the most High:

Prayer Guide: [México-S. Antonio Xluch] and [Panamá-Cuervito]

March's challenge: Do everything possible so that your life can be a visible testimony to all men as Christians living in the likeness of Christ. Everyday, praise your Creator. Keep a constant praise on your lips. Listen to Christian praise and worship music with your family. Go to Church, not only to be a spectator, but a worshiper. Worship as you pray, worship as you read the Bible, worship in your illness, always worship.

Annual Bible reading: Joshua 21, 22, 23, 24, Judges 1
