Morning Micah 5:4

Noon Psalms 125

Evening Isaiah 9:7

In the book of Micah we read a prophecy that clearly alludes to the mighty reign of the Messiah: “And He shall stand and feed His flock in the strength of the Lord, in the majesty of the name of the Lord His God; and they shall abide, for now He shall be great to the ends of the earth;". The excellence and trustworthiness of His Lordship inspires confidence and gives His people the certainty that they can rest assured because He will be exalted to the ends of the earth. Once we understand this, how can we doubt the protection of God over our lives? How can we allow fear and anxiety to invade our hearts when He has given us promises such as these? "...casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you. ” (1Peter 5: 7). “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. ” (Matthew 11:28). The text says that He "shall stand and feed." The great Head of the Church is actively engaged in providing for His people; He does not sit idly on His throne, nor does His scepter remain unused. No, He is standing and feeding. The expression "to feed His flock" in the original is analogous to another in the Greek that means "to shepherd,” that is to say, do everything a pastor does: guide, watch over, preserve, restore, care for and feed.

What a joy it is to belong to such a shepherd, who empathizes with our humanity and protects us with His divinity.

Morning Micah 5:4

And He shall stand and feed His flock in the strength of the Lord, in the majesty of the name of the Lord His God; and they shall abide, for now He shall be great to the ends of the earth.

THE KING

Noon Psalms 125

1 They that trust in the LORD shall be as mount Zion, which cannot be removed, but abideth for ever.

2 As the mountains are round about Jerusalem, so the LORD is round about his people from henceforth even for ever.

3 For the rod of the wicked shall not rest upon the lot of the righteous; lest the righteous put forth their hands unto iniquity.

4 Do good, O LORD, unto those that be good, and to them that are upright in their hearts.

5 As for such as turn aside unto their crooked ways, the LORD shall lead them forth with the workers of iniquity: but peace shall be upon Israel.

Evening Isaiah 9:7:

Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.
