WORSHIP

December 1, 2021

Morning John 4:19-24

Noon Psalms 125

Evening Ephes 1:3-7

The ultimate purpose of evangelism and the end goal of missions is to bring sinners, who are in enmity with God, to be reconciled to Him through faith in His Son, and thus become His worshipers. Evangelism is a means to an end, but worship is an end in itself. We do not worship God to achieve some higher purpose. We simply worship Him because He is worthy of being praised and because by worshiping Him we serve the purpose for which we were created and that is to glorify God and enjoy Him for forever. Worship is our reason for being and the reason for being of the church. Nothing is more important than worshiping God, not even evangelism or missionary work. There is no activity that we carry out as a church that is more important than worshiping God.

To worship is to pay tribute, honor, reverence, respect, praise and glory to the one and only true God.

Morning John 4:19-24

The woman said to Him, “Sir, I perceive that You are a prophet. Our fathers worshiped on this mountain, and you Jews say that in Jerusalem is the place where one ought to worship.” Jesus said to her, “Woman, believe Me, the hour is coming when you will neither on this mountain, nor in Jerusalem, worship the Father. You worship what you do not know; we know what we worship, for salvation is of the Jews. But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”

Evening Ephesians 1:3-7

3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:

4 According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:

5 Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,

6 To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.

7 In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;
